Is bile duct cancer prone to recurrence after surgery?

Is bile duct cancer prone to recurrence after surgery?

When it comes to cancer, many people think of it as a terrible disease that has taken countless lives. It is extremely difficult to cure and is prone to recurrence. Cancer often causes great pain to patients and makes their families exhausted. Cholangiocarcinoma is also a type of cancer. So, is it easy to recur after surgery like other cancers?

Cholangiocarcinoma is a common malignant tumor in clinical practice. Its onset is related to bile duct stones, liver fluke disease, viral infection, autoimmune diseases, etc., and special vigilance is required in daily life. After suffering from cholangiocarcinoma, patients will not only suffer great pain, but also endanger their lives. In clinical practice, many patients have achieved clinical cure after treatment.

So, there will be no recurrence of bile duct cancer after recovery, right? Is this really the case? Biliary duct cancer is clinically cured, which means there is no recurrence five years after surgery. In fact, two years after surgery is the peak period of recurrence. Once five years have passed, the chance of recurrence is relatively small. However, a relatively small chance of recurrence does not mean that there will be no recurrence. The risk still exists, so patients should not take it lightly and eat and drink too much, have irregular work and rest, etc. At the same time, postoperative consolidation treatment is also necessary.

Patients with bile duct cancer should eat a light and nutritious diet. Eat more vegetables, fruits, milk, soft-shelled turtles and other nourishing foods rich in amino acids, vitamins, proteins and easy to digest. Eat less greasy and heavy food; eat less dog meat, mutton and other warm nourishing foods; eat less seafood without shells, bamboo shoots, taro and other foods that are easy to cause allergies; eat less drinks and snacks containing chemicals, preservatives and additives. Avoid irritants such as too sour, too spicy, too salty, tobacco and alcohol.
