Is teratoma harmful to patients?

Teratoma is one of the most common tumors in the ovary. It is a very special cyst. Teratoma brings a lot of trouble to the lives of female friends. Generally, teratoma will not affect pregnancy. So, is teratoma harmful to patients? The following is a detailed introduction.

First of all, teratoma originates from dormant multifunctional primitive embryonic cells. It is a tumor originating from germ cells. More than 90% of them come from empty eggs fertilized by sperm from a single unit, and then replicate themselves without cytoplasmic movement. The site of occurrence is related to the midline anterior axis or midline paracentral area of the embryological body cavity, and is more common in the sacral and coccygeal region, mediastinum, retroperitoneum, and gonadal region. It is more common in newborns and infants, and more common in women.

Secondly, teratoma generally does not affect pregnancy, but since the nature of the tumor cannot be determined, as long as two consecutive B-ultrasounds (preferably once before and after menstruation) indicate that there is a mixed mass in the adnex, surgical treatment is recommended. In this way, it still has some impact on pregnancy.

Finally, whether the teratoma is benign or not can only be determined by pathological examination after removal. Its clinical manifestations include lower abdominal pain, lower abdominal discomfort, increased leucorrhea, menstrual disorders and pain. Because it has a certain rate of malignant transformation, if it is not removed, it is like carrying a time bomb that may explode at any time. Therefore, once it is discovered, the best way is to perform surgery immediately.

Pay attention to your personal hygiene habits and take good care of your personal hygiene. If any abnormal situation occurs, go to the hospital for examination.
