Is melanoma contagious?

Is melanoma contagious?

Most melanomas occur due to repeated friction, scratching and damage to the nevus, which causes it to become malignant. Improper excavation and drug corrosion can cause benign nevus to transform into malignant melanoma.

Malignant melanoma develops rapidly in women during pregnancy or childbearing age, suggesting that the disease is related to endocrine system.

In terms of age, most cases occur in middle-aged and elderly people, and very few occur before puberty. It is reported that 84% of malignant melanomas come from benign moles. Reports show that many patients do not notice them in the early stages of the disease because the moles are too small. Some people believe that benign moles are the biggest source of malignant melanoma. So is melanoma contagious?

Melanoma is a malignant tumor with a genetic tendency, not an infectious disease. It can only be passed down from the child's parents to the child!

Oncology experts believe that there is still no evidence to prove that melanoma is contagious. However, many people still have misunderstandings about this issue. They often equate cancer with death, worrying that if they get infected, they will die. This understanding is extremely wrong.

Today, the evaluation of the efficacy of tumor treatment has changed from the previous single pursuit of tumor lesion control rate to the simultaneous emphasis on the patient's survival. Experts from the Chongqing Cancer Hospital Biotherapy Center remind us that as long as early prevention, early detection, and early treatment are carried out, coupled with the emergence of new technologies, tumors will become a controllable chronic disease.
