What does slight aversion to wind and cold mean

Simply put, a mild cold is actually the symptom of a cold caused by catching a chill or being affected by wind. The body feels uncomfortable, but it is mild, and the symptoms of discomfort are not particularly obvious. In fact, whether it is a mild cold or a more serious cold, everyone needs to actively seek treatment, otherwise it will lead to aggravation of the condition and cause serious harm to the patient's health. Usually, active treatment is needed, drink more hot water, and pay more attention to rest.

What is a cold?

Wind-cold colds are caused by the invasion of wind-cold evil and the failure of lung qi to flow freely. In layman's terms, it is what we often call a cold, which is a series of uncomfortable symptoms caused by external wind and cold that leads to lung dysfunction.

The so-called cold cold refers to the feeling of pain or tightness all over the body after catching a cold, fever but obvious fear of cold, clear nasal discharge, not dry mouth, no or mild sore throat, white and thin sputum, stomach pain and bloating that occurs or worsens when exposed to cold, and clear and thin stools. It occurs more frequently in autumn and winter. The symptoms include body aches, nasal congestion, runny nose, wind-heat cold and phlegm. For treatment, both Western medicine and Chinese medicine can be used, and diet therapy can also be used, which not only cures diseases but also maintains health. Preventive measures include keeping warm, strengthening physical exercise, and improving immunity. You can also get vaccinations in advance.

Can I soak my feet when I have a cold?

As the weather changes, people with weaker immunity will catch a cold every now and then. Experts say that most colds at this time are caused by wind and cold. If you add some Chinese medicine when soaking your feet, it will be beneficial in relieving and preventing the disease.

The first simple method is to use mustard. Put an appropriate amount of mustard in warm water, mix well, and soak your feet in it 2 to 3 times a day for 15 to 30 minutes each time. It can relieve the cold and treat colds. If you have a cough and cold lower limbs after catching a cold, you can go to a Chinese medicine store and buy 60 grams of perilla leaves, boil them three times in a row, remove the residue and take the juice, add it to hot water and mix it well, and soak your feet. It can help clear the lungs and dispel the cold, and effectively relieve the symptoms. In addition, green onions and ginger, which are available in every kitchen, are also good remedies for medicinal baths. After boiling them in water, take the juice and put it into warm water to soak your feet. It is suitable for treating the early stages of a cold.

When people are taking a medicinal bath, it is best to massage the Yongquan point, which is located in the depression on the front part of the foot, in the front third of the line connecting the ends of the webs of the 2nd and 3rd toes and the heel; the Kunlun point, which is located behind the lateral malleolus, in the depression between the tip of the lateral malleolus and the Achilles tendon; the Taixi point, which is located on the inner side of the foot, in the depression between the back of the medial malleolus and the heel bone tendon; and the Taichong point, which is located on the dorsum of the foot, in the depression before the junction of the first and second metatarsal bones. These are also beneficial for treating colds.

Tips for preventing colds

1. Exercise more

Adding or removing clothes in time when the climate changes, paying attention to keeping warm, and being cautious about contact with people with colds to avoid invasion of evil spirits, etc., all play an important role in preventing colds.

2. Preventive medication

Generally, the incidence of colds can be greatly reduced. The main medicines include radix smilax, isatis indigotica, root of isatis, herba communis, patchouli, perilla, mint, and schizonepeta. As the seasons change, the medicines used to prevent colds also vary. For example, in winter and spring, use Guanzhong, Perilla, and Schizonepeta; in summer, use Patchouli, Cymbidium and Mentha. The decocting time of the medicine should be short to preserve the aroma and volatile effective substances. Those without sweat should drink hot porridge or cover themselves with a blanket after taking the medicine to promote sweating and relieve the symptoms. After sweating, change into dry and clean clothes in time to avoid being affected by the evil again.

3. Food and daily life

Patients with colds should get adequate rest, drink plenty of water, eat vegetarian and liquid food, and be careful about eating greasy and difficult to digest foods. Common foods such as onions, garlic and vinegar also have a preventive effect. The bedroom should have adequate ventilation, but no direct wind.

4. Gargle with salt water

Rinse your mouth with light salt water every morning, evening and after meals to remove oral bacteria. When influenza is prevalent, you should pay more attention to gargling with salt water. At this time, it will be more effective if you tilt your head back and gargle so that the salt water can fully rinse the throat.

5. Cold water bath

Use cold water to wash your face every day. Use your hands to scoop up a handful of water to wash your nostrils. Gently inhale a little water through your nostrils (be careful not to inhale too deeply to avoid choking) and then blow it out. Repeat this process many times.
