What are the exercises for colorectal cancer

What are the exercises for colorectal cancer? Appropriate exercise can speed up blood circulation, improve immunity, and promote the excretion of toxins from the body as soon as possible. On the contrary, not exercising can easily lead to intestinal adhesion or intestinal obstruction, which is not conducive to recovery. The following points should be noted when doing physical exercise.

Patients with mild symptoms

Patients with mild symptoms can engage in appropriate outdoor exercise accompanied by their family members. They should choose a flat, sunny, sheltered area for exercise, and exercise in a place with fresh air, flowers, plants and trees. This is not only safe, but also provides sufficient oxygen, which is conducive to the patient's cheerful mood and confidence.

The time should be between 8 and 9 in the morning after the sun comes out, or between 5 and 7 in the afternoon before sunset. At the same time, pay attention to the temperature of the climate, add appropriate clothes to prevent colds, and the exercise time should be 15 to 30 minutes.

Patients with colorectal cancer should avoid excessively strenuous exercise and choose milder, low-intensity exercises, such as walking, shaking hands, practicing Tai Chi, practicing sword, doing gymnastics, etc.

Exercise should be gradual and persistent. During exercise, you should do it within your ability and not force yourself. The principle is not to feel tired. If the patient experiences palpitations, nausea, dizziness, chest tightness, or cold sweats during exercise, he should stop exercising immediately.

Those with more serious illness

If the patient is seriously ill or bedridden, they can do some bed exercises within their ability, such as moving their limbs and doing massage exercises. Family members can regularly turn the patient over and pat his back to prevent bedsores and aspiration pneumonia; massaging the patient can relax the muscles, eliminate fatigue, relieve local pain in colorectal cancer patients, and enhance the patient's physical fitness and resistance. The following are 2 massage methods:

1. Massage the abdomen: Place your palms on the abdomen, and rub clockwise and counterclockwise with the navel as the center, 50 to 100 times each. Be careful not to use too much force, and massage until the patient feels comfortable. It can promote gastrointestinal motility, aid digestion, and prevent constipation.

2. Massage the abdomen: Place the thenar of both hands on both sides of the patient's abdomen, and then gently massage toward the midline of the abdomen; or use one palm to gently massage downward from under the xiphoid process to the lower abdomen, for 2 to 3 minutes each time. This can promote digestion and increase appetite in patients with colorectal cancer.

Note: If the colorectal cancer patient has not yet undergone surgery, he should seek the advice of the attending physician before undergoing massage to avoid adverse effects.
