Can chronic hepatitis C be cured?

In fact, hepatitis C disease is divided into chronic hepatitis C and acute hepatitis C. Acute hepatitis C generally has strong explosiveness, so the mortality rate of acute hepatitis C is also very high. The main symptom of chronic hepatitis C is that it will slowly erode the human body and cause great damage to the liver. And when chronic hepatitis C reaches a serious stage, it will cause liver fibrosis. Is it possible to cure chronic hepatitis C?

In recent years, the number of patients with chronic hepatitis C has increased significantly, and the high incidence of cirrhosis and liver cancer has caused a great psychological burden on people. Some people are even pessimistic and believe that chronic hepatitis C is as incurable as hepatitis B!

In fact, this is a big misunderstanding. Even patients with chronic hepatitis B can be effectively controlled according to current treatment plans, and some can even be completely cured.

The cure rate for hepatitis C is over 80%! The latest oral hepatitis C antiviral drugs currently on the market can achieve a cure rate of over 95% for hepatitis C, including hepatitis C cirrhosis, within 3 months. Therefore, as long as we standardize the treatment, hepatitis C can be completely cured!

Attention during treatment:

1. Because the transmission route of hepatitis C is hidden, it is recommended that you check for hepatitis C antibodies once a year during your physical examination. This is simple and accurate.

2 A positive hepatitis C antibody does not necessarily mean hepatitis C. Only a positive hepatitis C virus content (HCV-RNA) (>10*3) can hepatitis C be confirmed. It is best to do a high-precision hepatitis C virus content test, which can detect 15 viruses.

3. If interferon is used for 24 weeks within 6 months of infection with hepatitis C, the cure rate is over 80%. Therefore, if you are infected with hepatitis C, you should actively treat it. The earlier the better.

4. After treatment, if the virus turns negative, a high-precision HCV test should be performed to confirm the virus clearance to prevent false negatives that may affect the cure rate;

5. Make sure to complete the course of treatment under the guidance of a doctor and ensure that the doses of interferon and ribavirin are sufficient;

6. If conditions permit, ensure that the virus is negative for at least 11 months using high-precision virus content detection technology;

7. People with abnormal liver function must be treated, otherwise the disease will progress rapidly;

9 Those who cannot be treated or cannot tolerate treatment for various reasons can wait for new drugs while ensuring normal liver function.

10. The latest oral antiviral treatment for hepatitis C: sofosbuvir + ledipasvir, 12 weeks of treatment; sofosbuvir + daclatasvir; the cure rate is above 95%. If the viral load is less than 500 after one day of treatment, 100% cure can be achieved after three weeks of treatment. In the future, new three-drug treatment regimens may cure most hepatitis C patients within 3 weeks.
