Due to the special anatomical structure and position of the gallbladder, the gallbladder wall has abundant lymphatic vessels, so the cancer often infiltrates or metastasizes to the liver, intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts, and portal vein. In the late stage, distant metastasis often occurs, which can be transferred to tissues and organs such as bones and lungs.

Gallbladder cancer is mostly asymptomatic in the early stage, and lacks typical specific manifestations. It is difficult to distinguish it from benign gallbladder diseases such as chronic cholecystitis, gallstones, and gallbladder polyps.
