How serious is the harm of brain cancer

Everyone knows that brain tumor is a very terrible disease. It is a common and frequent disease in the brain. Its harm is quite serious. If it is discovered late, it will affect the ability to live at the least, and endanger life and destroy the family at the worst. Why is this disease so terrible? What kind of terrible consequences will this disease lead to? The following experts will explain in detail.

1. Blindness may occur: Most brain tumor patients first experience vision loss, which is caused by the compression of the visual nerve by the tumor. If it is not treated in time, it will directly develop into blindness. Some elderly people may suffer from brain tumors and eye diseases at the same time. When their vision changes, they think it is caused by eye diseases, so they don’t pay too much attention, thus delaying treatment. Common tumors include craniopharyngioma, pituitary adenoma, meningioma, glioma and high intracranial pressure caused by brain tumors.
2. May cause paralysis: Most cases may cause hemiplegia, as the incidence is high in patients with tumors located near the motor area of the brain, the basal ganglia, and the ventral side of the brainstem. It starts with mild paralysis, and gradually develops into severe paralysis and even complete paralysis. Hemiplegia is accompanied by other manifestations, such as symptoms of high intracranial pressure. If treated promptly in the early stages of the disease, it generally will not develop into hemiplegia. A small number of tumors are accompanied by bleeding and sudden hemiplegia, and the manifestations are similar to cerebral hemorrhage. Head CT or magnetic resonance imaging should be performed in time for early diagnosis and early treatment. It is common in meningiomas and gliomas.
3. Sudden death: Why does sudden death occur? It may be because the tumor causes increased intracranial pressure, brain herniation, compression of the respiratory and circulatory centers, and respiratory and cardiac arrest. If the tumor has grown to a large size and is close to the late stage, and has not received timely and effective treatment, sudden death is likely to occur. However, some tumors are not large, but are located in the midline and affect the cerebrospinal fluid circulation in the early stage. If the cause is not eliminated, it will also cause brain herniation and sudden death. It is more common in gliomas and brain metastases.
