What are the treatments for lung cancer

For lung cancer patients, the most important issue is how to treat their condition to control their disease and make themselves better. In fact, there are many ways to treat lung cancer. For each patient, it is necessary to formulate a suitable treatment plan based on the condition and implement it accurately. Let's take a look at the methods of treating lung cancer.

1. Surgical treatment. Surgical treatment of lung cancer is still one of the most commonly used methods. Through surgery, the primary lung tumor is completely removed and the local lymph nodes are cleared to try to cure the tumor. Surgery is mainly suitable for cases in stage I to stage IIIA. Modern thoracic surgery is characterized by minimally invasive, laparoscopic and instrumental surgery. The surgery is less invasive and the recovery is fast.

2. Electrotherapy. Electrotherapy, also known as radiotherapy, uses radiation to kill tumor cells to achieve the purpose of treating tumors. Radiotherapy is divided into radical radiotherapy, palliative radiotherapy, preoperative radiotherapy, postoperative radiotherapy and intracavitary radiotherapy. Radiotherapy is an indispensable and important means for both early and late stage lung cancer patients. At present, radiotherapy methods have been greatly improved. Precision radiotherapy technologies represented by stereotactic radiotherapy such as three-dimensional conformal intensity modulation and gamma knife have been introduced into the clinic and are becoming more and more mature. They can accurately locate, so that the local tumor irradiation dose is large, while the patient's normal tissue damage is small, and the efficacy is further improved.

3. Chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is the most commonly used treatment for patients with advanced lung cancer. Chemotherapy is a method of treating tumors with cytotoxic chemical drugs. According to the purpose of treatment, chemotherapy can be divided into preoperative chemotherapy, postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy, palliative chemotherapy, etc. With the continuous emergence of new generation chemotherapy drugs, chemotherapy occupies an important position in the treatment of lung cancer. The toxic side effects of chemotherapy are generally within the control of doctors, and most patients can tolerate chemotherapy.

At present, lung cancer treatment is still very difficult, especially for patients with advanced lung cancer, the mortality rate is relatively high. However, if there is a regular and effective treatment method, it can prolong the patient's life, relieve the patient's pain, and eliminate related symptoms, which is still worthwhile for the patient.
