How long does it take to detect skin cancer?

The most obvious signs of skin cancer are changes in your skin, such as a bump or sore that won't heal. The symptoms of different types of skin cancer are different. Some skin cancers may start as small, smooth, pale, or waxy bumps. Sometimes the bumps bleed or form scabs. Other times, skin cancers start as red spots that are rough, dry, or scaly. So how quickly can skin cancer be detected?

Skin cancer is 100 percent curable if it is treated before it spreads, so if you have any skin symptoms, you should see a doctor right away.
Both basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma develop on areas of the body that are exposed to the sun, such as the head, face, neck, hands, and arms. You can also get skin cancer on other parts of the body.
Actinic keratosis is characterized by rough, red or brown, scaly patches on the skin. Actinic keratosis is also called a precancer because it can turn into squamous cell carcinoma. Like skin cancer, actinic keratosis often develops on areas that have been exposed to the sun, but it can also occur on other parts of the body.
Symptoms of skin cancer Changes in your skin do not necessarily indicate cancer. However, if the above symptoms persist for more than two weeks, it is best to see a doctor. Don't wait until these areas become painful before seeing a doctor, because skin cancer is painless in the early stages.
