The human placenta also contains a certain glycoprotein component, which can inhibit the synthesis of DNA in lymphocytes in in vitro experiments, but does not affect the vitality of the cells. Placental extract can inhibit the fever caused by methamphetamine when taken in large quantities. The pepsin digestion fluid, water extract and 70% acetone extract of the refrigerated placenta were tested using a Valsalva respirator and found to promote the respiration of several tissues such as the liver, heart, brain, and yeast, and the effect was stronger in the refrigerated ones than in the non-refrigerated ones. Placental serum has a stimulating effect on the isolated guinea pig uterus, similar to posterior pituitary hormone.
