Is throat cancer contagious?

Is throat cancer contagious? Throat cancer is also a type of cancer. When people are treating cancer, they are still worried that cancer can be contagious. Therefore, many people are very worried. So, let me introduce to you below, is throat cancer contagious? What are the causes?

Regarding the question of "Is throat cancer contagious?" we must first analyze the cause of throat cancer:

1. Virus factors. More than 90% of people in my country have been infected with Epstein-Barr virus when they were young. What is Epstein-Barr virus? It is human herpes virus. People infected with this virus are very common. The occurrence of laryngeal cancer is obviously regional, so it cannot be considered that Epstein-Barr virus infection is the cause of laryngeal cancer. However, a large number of studies have found that Epstein-Barr virus is closely related to the cause of laryngeal cancer. Despite this, it has not been confirmed whether Epstein-Barr virus is the cause of laryngeal cancer. Further research is in progress.

2. Environmental factors. Social progress has brought about changes in living habits. In some high-incidence areas, residents often like to eat local salted fish, pickled meat, and pickled vegetables. The nitrite content in these foods is very high and contains a certain amount of nitrosamines and their various compounds. Among them, dinitrosopiperazine has been proven to induce atypical hyperplasia, carcinoma in situ, and invasive cancer in the pharyngeal mucosa of mice, with an induction rate of up to 40%. This shows that nitrosamines and their compounds are closely related to the causes of pharyngeal cancer.

3. Genetic factors. The incidence of laryngeal cancer is obviously regional, and has obvious racial and familial clustering. Laryngeal cancer is more common in the yellow race, and it is rare for white people to suffer from this disease. If a family with a high incidence of laryngeal cancer moves overseas, their descendants will still have a high incidence rate. Patients with laryngeal cancer often have a clear family history. These phenomena show that genetics is closely related to the incidence of laryngeal cancer.

It can be seen from this that the cause of laryngeal cancer is not contagious, so there is no need to worry too much about being infected or infecting others.
