Can laryngeal cancer be contagious to others?

Laryngeal cancer is a very serious malignant tumor disease. We cannot delay the treatment of laryngeal cancer. We should start treatment as soon as possible to seize the best treatment opportunity to recover earlier. To avoid such a disease from causing too much harm, in order to help patients, let's talk about whether laryngeal cancer is contagious.

Laryngeal cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the throat. It is a squamous cell carcinoma and is not an infectious disease. Laryngeal cancer is divided into three categories based on the location of the tumor: supraglottic cancer, glottic cancer, and subglottic cancer. The most common type is glottic cancer, which originates from the vocal cords.

Most laryngeal cancers can metastasize to the cervical lymph nodes and distant metastases. Some patients present with cervical lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis as the first symptom, which increases the difficulty of diagnosis and can easily be misdiagnosed as vocal cord polyps or vocal cord paralysis.

Pharyngitis, etc., the shortest time is 2 weeks, the longest is 2 years. Patients with laryngeal cancer often have symptoms such as hoarseness, cough, hemoptysis, abnormal throat pain, difficulty breathing, and lumps in the neck.

The cause of laryngeal cancer is still unclear. However, the incidence of laryngeal cancer is closely related to certain bad living habits. Surveys have found that people who smoke and drink a lot are more likely to develop laryngeal cancer. Excessive use of the vocal cords (mostly due to occupational reasons) and long-term consumption of betel nuts will increase the chance of developing laryngeal cancer. Laryngeal cancer patients are mainly middle-aged and elderly people, and men are more likely to develop laryngeal cancer than women.

A foreign body sensation in the throat or pain when swallowing are early symptoms of supraglottic laryngeal cancer, but tumors that originate in the vocal cords can also cause a foreign body sensation in the throat or pain when swallowing once they develop to the middle and late stages. Once you find your voice is hoarse or you have a foreign body sensation, go to a large regular hospital for a laryngoscopy immediately to confirm the condition.

Through the above editor's narration, we can understand that laryngeal cancer is not contagious. I hope that we can look at laryngeal cancer correctly in the future. In addition to paying attention to the prevention of laryngeal cancer, we must also actively take treatment measures for the disease and not miss the best time for treatment.
