During the process of fat loss, people will become thinner and thinner. If too much fat is lost, it may lead to extreme malnutrition in the body. People with too little fat may also suffer from various diseases. Some people may even go into constant shock due to insufficient blood supply. Fat loss is caused by lesions in certain organs in the body. Let’s take a look at what fat loss is all about.

How is fat released from adipose tissue?

The rate at which fat (triglycerides) is released from fat cells is quite slow even during exercise. During the free process, exercise or the body being in a state of energy deficiency will stimulate the secretion of a lipase that responds to hormones and breaks down fat into three fatty acid molecules and one glycerol. This process is called lipolysis. The glycerol produced is water-soluble and will dissolve in the blood.

In the process of exercise stimulating fat hydrolysis, the most important hormones are adrenocortical hormone and paracortin. Exercise can increase the concentration of fatty acids in the blood. During long-term moderate-intensity exercise, the rate of fatty acid oxidation is 10 times higher than usual, and the rate of fat synthesis is also slowed down.

What if we increase the intensity of our exercise?

Of course, the rate of fatty acid oxidation will increase, but the production of lactic acid will also increase. Lactic acid reduces the rate at which fatty acids are released and increases the rate at which fatty acids are resynthesized into fat. Carbohydrates then become an important source of energy. During low to moderate intensity exercise, the lactic acid concentration in the blood is very low and has almost no effect on the release of fatty acids. In this way, fat oxidation will become the main source of exercise energy, and the proportion of carbohydrates as an energy source will be greatly reduced.

Of course, we already know that fat is broken down as a source of energy; however, the body also breaks down protein and carbohydrates in the body at the same time. When the body is short of energy, insulin levels can also be very low. At this time, the body will secrete other hormones (glucagon), which will prompt the tissues throughout the body to begin to break down and produce usable energy. Therefore, long-term low insulin and high glucagon in the body are not conducive to muscle growth.
