Will you die from advanced throat cancer?

Laryngeal cancer is a common malignant tumor in my country. Once you have laryngeal cancer, the patient's quality of life will decline. If it is not diagnosed and treated early, the condition will become more serious. However, the early symptoms of laryngeal cancer are not obvious, and when it is discovered, it is already in the middle and late stages. So what are the clinical symptoms of late-stage laryngeal cancer?

Clinical symptoms of advanced laryngeal cancer include:

1. Pain in the inner ear: In the early stage of laryngeal cancer, the vocal cord tumor is still small and generally does not cause reflex pain. Therefore, reflex pain mainly occurs in patients with supraglottic tumors in the middle and late stages. When laryngeal cancer develops to a certain level, ulcers and severe inflammation will occur in the throat.

2. Vocal cord congestion: In the late stage, there will be vocal cord congestion, and in the early stage, it will be thickened. The surface will be rough and uneven, and granular protrusions will gradually appear on the surface of the vocal cords, and then papillary or cauliflower-like tumors will appear. After a while, the movement of the vocal cords will be restricted or fixed. In the late stage, it often becomes ulcers and develops to the upper and lower parts of the larynx to invade the adjacent tissues of the larynx, and there will be cervical lymph node metastasis.

3. Difficulty breathing: When the throat tumor deteriorates severely at the primary site and increases in size, it will directly block the trachea and affect breathing or make it difficult for tracheal secretions to be discharged, leading to difficulty breathing.

4. Coughing and blood in sputum: Since the tumor carries a large number of abnormal new blood vessels, patients often find blood in their mucus or sputum after coughing. This symptom is mainly seen in patients with supraglottic and subglottic tumors and patients with mid- to late-stage vocal cord tumors. Early-stage vocal cord tumors generally do not bleed.

5. Cervical lymph node metastasis: In late stage, it may metastasize to the contralateral side. It may metastasize to the deep middle cervical lymph nodes on the same side.

Through the introduction of the clinical symptoms of late-stage laryngeal cancer, I believe everyone has gained some understanding. I hope that patients can raise their awareness of cancer prevention and be alert to the occurrence of these symptoms. Once the above symptoms are found, they should consult a doctor in time to achieve early detection and early treatment.
