How to treat patients with advanced colon cancer

Colon cancer, as the name implies, is a malignant tumor disease that occurs in our intestines. The spread and metastasis of this disease have a great impact on our treatment work, and many patients are also deeply affected by it. The following editor will take you to understand how to treat patients with advanced colon cancer.

1. Surgical treatment:

It is the most effective method to cure colorectal cancer and anal cancer. Patients who are suitable for surgery should undergo surgical resection as soon as possible.

2. Chemotherapy:

After radical resection of colorectal cancer, 50% of cases still have recurrence and metastasis, so preoperative and postoperative chemotherapy may improve the 5-year survival rate after radical resection. Fluorouracil is the first choice of anticancer drugs, followed by mitomycin and doxorubicin.

3. Radiation therapy:

Preoperative radiotherapy can shrink the tumor and increase the resection rate, while postoperative radiotherapy can kill the remaining tumor cells. Radiotherapy alone is only used in advanced rectal cancer cases and has the effects of hemostasis, analgesia, and prolonging survival.

4. Endoscopic treatment:

For early mucosal cancer, endoscopic resection is possible, and for advanced tumors, stents can be placed under endoscopy to prevent stenosis and obstruction.

5. Treatment with traditional Chinese medicine:

It can be used as auxiliary and supportive treatment to improve symptoms and prolong survival.

When colon cancer occurs, everyone must take it seriously. Only by taking early treatment for colon cancer patients can the damage to the patients be reduced, thus increasing the chance of recovery. I hope everyone can do a good job of preventing colon cancer in advance in life.
