Nasopharyngeal cancer patients do not need to avoid certain foods, but they should eat fresh food

The key points of the diet for patients with nasopharyngeal cancer are nothing more than following two basic principles: moderation and freshness. As long as these two points are met, there is no need to worry about eating anything.

Principle 1: Freshness

Pickled foods, moldy foods, and stale vegetables are important sources of nitrite. Nitrite can be used to synthesize N-nitroso compounds in food or in the stomach, and most N-nitroso compounds are relatively clear carcinogens. In addition, some processed foods, such as smoked fish, pickled meat, and fried bacon, contain more N-nitroso compounds, which are particularly harmful to patients. On the contrary, vegetables and fruits are rich in vitamins, which can block the synthesis of carcinogenic N-nitroso compounds.

Principle 2: Moderation

This is consistent with the principle of balanced diet in nutrition. For example, drinking a small amount of wine every day is good for health, but excessive drinking is a big enemy of health and can directly increase the risk of many cancers. For a moderate diet, just remember one principle: eat in moderation every day, you can eat anything, but don't eat too much. Adhere to a balanced diet, eat a variety of different kinds of vegetables and fruits, and eat less meat.

In addition to the types of food, you also need to pay attention to the way you eat it. Fried foods, for example, contain a lot of trans fats and are recognized as harmful to health. Steaming and boiling, on the other hand, are healthy cooking methods that reduce the loss of nutrients.
