Early exercise for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma

The prevention and treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma lies in the early detection of symptoms, early diagnosis, and early treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Usually, everyone should change bad eating habits, such as not eating pickled foods and not smoking. For those living in southern provinces of my country, especially in high-incidence areas of nasopharyngeal carcinoma such as the Pearl River Delta, or those with a family history of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, regular check-ups are also an important prevention method. The earlier nasopharyngeal carcinoma is discovered, the better the prognosis; the later it is discovered, the less likely it is to be cured and the worse the prognosis. In other words, early diagnosis and early treatment can significantly improve the survival rate after treatment. So, how should nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients exercise in the early stages?

Early exercise for nasopharyngeal cancer:

1. Rinse with tea: Rinse your mouth with warm tea after each meal, alternating between cheek puffing and sucking, gargle thoroughly for 1-3 minutes to remove food residues between teeth, achieve the effect of cleaning teeth and maintaining oral hygiene.

2. Teeth tapping: Gently tap or clench the upper and lower teeth 2-3 times a day, about 100 times each time, and finally lick the periodontium with the tip of the tongue for 3-5 circles. This can strengthen the teeth, fully exercise the chewing muscles, and prevent their fibrosis.

3. Swallowing saliva: Swallowing saliva frequently can stimulate saliva secretion, moisten the throat, relieve dryness of the mouth and tongue, and exercise the tongue, teeth and cheek muscles to prevent degeneration of oral function.

4. Puffing up the cheeks: Close your lips and blow air outwards to make your cheeks puff up. Place the thumbs of both hands on the puffed cheeks and gently massage the cheeks and temporomandibular joints. Do eight beats clockwise, open your mouth to breathe, then do eight beats counterclockwise, and repeat this for eight beats each time, twice a day, to prevent difficulty opening the mouth caused by fibrosis of the temporomandibular joints and their surrounding muscle tissue.

5. Tongue flicking: Open your mouth slightly and bounce your tongue in your mouth, making a "da da" sound. By moving the tongue in the mouth, you can exercise its flexibility and prevent the tongue muscles from atrophy and functional degeneration.

6. Shake your head: Slowly nod your head up and down and left and right. Nodding up and down is one eight beat, and shaking your head left and right is one eight beat. Do this twice a day, 2 to 4 eight beats each time. This can prevent neck tightness and limited neck movement caused by fibrosis of the neck joint muscles.

Patients with early-stage nasopharyngeal cancer must receive timely treatment, otherwise, in the late stages, treatment will become more difficult and the harm will become more serious. The above exercise methods can alleviate the condition and help with treatment.
