Will long-term stomach problems lead to stomach cancer?

Once gastric cancer takes away our health, our previous work and study will become meaningless, especially when we are told that gastric cancer has reached the late stage, our psychological defenses will collapse instantly. Therefore, if we often suffer from other stomach diseases, we must pay attention to the prevention of gastric cancer. Then, will long-term stomach diseases lead to gastric cancer? Regarding this issue, let’s take a closer look.

Will common stomach problems develop into stomach cancer? Yes, but not all common stomach problems will eventually lead to stomach cancer. Experts believe that patients with the following four types of stomach problems should be especially careful about stomach cancer.

1. Atrophic gastritis

Most cases of atrophic gastritis eventually lead to gastric cancer. Some people even believe that atrophic gastritis is the "pre-cancer stage of gastric cancer." It is recommended that patients with atrophic gastritis undergo a gastroscopy every two years to detect gastric cancer earlier.

2. Large stomach ulcer

A large gastric ulcer is one with a diameter greater than 2 cm. Once a large ulcer is found, it should be treated immediately and for at least 6 weeks. After the ulcer is cured, it should be checked regularly, with an interval of 6 months or 1 year.

3. Polyps

Once gastric polyps are detected, regardless of size, they must be removed and a pathological examination should be performed.

4. Remnant stomach

A part of the stomach is removed due to a certain disease, which is called a remnant stomach. The remnant stomach is closely related to gastric cancer. Some studies have shown that if the remnant stomach exists for more than 5 years, the risk of gastric cancer increases. Therefore, patients with remnant stomach who have undergone gastric surgery are reminded to undergo a gastroscopy every year.

It is very necessary to let gastric cancer patients know their condition. Parents should not conceal anything after knowing the condition of gastric cancer patients. This is very unfavorable for gastric cancer patients, especially in the early stages of gastric cancer. If gastric cancer patients know more about the condition, they can pay more attention to the treatment of gastric cancer, which is very good for the patient's physical recovery.
