What harm does lung cancer do to human health

The harm of lung cancer to human health includes:

(1) The bronchus is blocked by cancer, and the original normal alveolar sac cavity no longer exists, affecting the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. As a result, the patient will feel chest tightness and shortness of breath.

(2) If lung cancer develops and occupies most of the lungs, it will seriously affect the lung’s respiratory function.

(3) The nerves in the bronchus are extremely sensitive. Cancerous masses can stimulate the nerves in the bronchus and cause coughing. Everyone has this experience: a grain of rice falls into the bronchus, and after a few coughs, the grain is coughed out and the cough stops. However, cancerous masses growing in the bronchus cannot be coughed out, so there will be bursts of violent coughing that are difficult to stop. Sometimes the blood vessels in the bronchus are broken by coughing, causing hemoptysis.

(4) Because the bronchi are blocked or semi-blocked by cancer, bronchial secretions, namely sputum, are difficult to be discharged, which encourages bacterial reproduction and causes pneumonia and fever. This type of pneumonia is called obstructive pneumonia.

(5) If lung cancer spreads to the pleura, it can cause chest pain and pleural effusion. Excessive pleural effusion compresses the lungs and can make breathing more difficult. It is more difficult to treat than ordinary pneumonia.
