What is ductal adenocarcinoma

Breast ductal adenocarcinoma accounts for 80%-90% of pancreatic cancer and is mainly composed of glands with ductal-like structures of varying degrees of differentiation, accompanied by abundant fibrous stroma.

① Well-differentiated ductal adenocarcinoma. It is mainly composed of well-differentiated ductal-like structures, lined with high columnar epithelial cells, some of which are mucinous epithelial cells, and some of which have abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm. This cancerous glandular duct is sometimes difficult to distinguish from the residual and hyperplastic ducts of chronic pancreatitis.

② Moderately differentiated ductal adenocarcinoma. It is composed of duct-like structures with different degrees of differentiation, some of which are similar to well-differentiated adenocarcinoma, and some may show actual cancer nests.

③Poorly differentiated ductal adenocarcinoma. Only a few irregular glandular structures are seen, most of which are solid cancer nests. The cells are highly heterogeneous, ranging from undifferentiated small cells to tumor giant cells, and even multinucleated tumor giant cells. Sometimes spindle cells can be seen. In a few areas with glandular differentiation, there may be a small amount of mucus, and the tumor stroma contains rich type 1 and type IV collagen.
