What are the symptoms of bone cancer?

Bone cancer generally refers to osteosarcoma. The main symptoms are local lumps, pain and pathological fractures. Bone cancer is divided into primary bone cancer and secondary bone cancer. If surgical treatment is possible, it is mainly radical surgery, and combined with adjuvant radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other comprehensive treatments after surgery. Generally, chemotherapy can also prolong the survival of bone cancer, while the effect of radiotherapy is relatively limited, and it can only control local symptoms and relieve pain. If it is secondary bone cancer, it is necessary to find the primary lesion and further treat it.

The clinical manifestations of bone cancer are, first of all, pain at the lesion site, swelling or contact with a lump at the lesion site. In severe cases, it may also lead to functional impairment of the lesion site, as well as compression symptoms, bone deformity, pathological fractures, etc. Further development may also lead to systemic symptoms.

Pain is the earliest clinical symptom of bone cancer, and of course the main symptom. It is relatively mild and intermittent at first, but as the disease progresses, the pain will gradually worsen and even become persistent. Subperiosteal masses, or earlier tumors, as well as superficial bone cancer, can all cause bone swelling and deformation. In the later stages of bone cancer, due to swelling and pain, the patient's tumor site has limited function and even muscle atrophy. Compression by tumors in the cranial and nasal cavities is also possible, because the cranial cavity, in particular, is a relatively closed cavity. If the tumor grows, the compression symptoms will be more obvious, and the patient will experience intracranial hypertension, and even lead to other related symptoms of the nervous system.
