Liquid-based thin-layer cell testing can detect cervical precancerous lesions

The thin layer cytology test (TCT) is the most advanced cervical cancer cell examination technology in the world. It has a 100% detection rate for cervical cancer cells and can also detect some precancerous lesions, such as human papillomavirus (HPV), fungi, trichomonas, viruses, chlamydia and other microbial infections. 99.6% of cervical cancer patients are caused by HPV infection, and sexual intercourse is the main way HPV is transmitted. Therefore, it is recommended that women who have sexual intercourse should have regular TCT examinations every year.

Generally speaking, if you have irregular vaginal bleeding or abnormal vaginal discharge, you need to have a gynecological examination as soon as possible. When the doctor thinks that there is something wrong with the vagina, such as the wrong color or something growing, he or she will recommend you to do a TCT test. Especially when postmenopausal women have symptoms of vaginal bleeding, it is best to have a check-up immediately.

Usually, no deliberate preparation is required before the TCT examination, but there are a few points to note: First, do not apply medicine on the vagina without permission, or flush the vagina yourself before the examination; second, it is best not to do the examination during the menstrual period; third, having sexual intercourse before the examination will also have a certain impact on the examination results, so it is best not to have sexual intercourse the day before the examination.

If the TCT test results are within the normal range and do not indicate HPV infection, there is no need to conduct HPV testing. Otherwise, HPV testing is required under the doctor's advice.
