Nursing methods for patients with liver cancer undergoing hepatic artery chemoembolization

Liver cancer patients can undergo hepatic artery chemoembolization according to their own condition. The specific nursing methods are as follows:

Increase nutrition before surgery

Liver cancer patients should eat light and easily digestible food before surgery, and follow the dietary principles of high sugar, high protein, high vitamins and low fat; avoid eating greasy, fried, spicy and stimulating foods to prevent damage to the spleen and stomach; it is recommended to eat more fresh vegetables, fruits, lean meat, eggs, milk and various soy products; patients can eat some cold foods such as bitter melon, winter melon, mung beans and cucumbers 3 days before surgery, and eat more high-fiber foods such as celery, bananas, spinach, etc. to keep bowel movements smooth.

Preventing complications after surgery

After hepatic arterial chemoembolization for liver cancer, the drug refluxes into the gastric and duodenal arteries, which often causes inflammatory reactions. Therefore, patients often experience a burning sensation in the upper abdomen. Patients who do not have obvious nausea and vomiting after surgery can eat liquid food as soon as possible, drink a small amount of cold boiled water or orange juice and lotus root juice, which can reduce the patient's burning sensation and prevent the occurrence of stress ulcers.

Light diet after surgery

After the operation, patients can be given light and easily digestible semi-liquid food, such as noodles and vegetable porridge, etc., and should not be given nourishing food to prevent the body from getting more damp and hot. Patients with obvious nausea and vomiting symptoms can take ginger juice with warm water or hold ginger slices or plums in their mouths, which can alleviate the symptoms to a certain extent. After these symptoms are alleviated, they can eat some liquid food.
