Different types of laryngeal cancer in TCM

Traditional Chinese medicine divides laryngeal cancer into many types, and the symptoms of each type are different, which is what is called differentiation of symptoms based on the type.

1. Wind-cold attacking the lungs

Symptoms: hoarseness, aversion to wind and cold, tightness in the throat, sudden onset, white tongue coating, and floating and tight pulse.

2. Qi and Yin deficiency type

Symptoms: hoarseness, sore throat, shortness of breath, low voice, sweating and dry mouth, red tongue with little coating, and deep and fine pulse.

3. Lung deficiency with heat (heat accumulation in the lungs and stomach) type

Symptoms: hoarseness, dry throat and mouth, fever in the five parts of the body, hot flashes and night sweats, sore throat, foreign body sensation in the throat, difficulty swallowing, coughing and spitting, blood in sputum, nausea and loss of appetite, yellow and red urine, hard and dry stools, red tongue with yellow coating, and rapid and stringy pulse.

4. Yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire, poison in the throat

Symptoms: hoarseness, dry throat, persistent choking cough, sore throat with hemoptysis, difficulty swallowing, swelling and nodules in the neck, red and dry tongue, yellow tongue coating, and thin, smooth and rapid pulse.

5. Phlegm accumulation and dampness type

Symptoms: hoarseness, sore throat, swelling in the neck, nausea and bloating, loose stools, yellow and sticky leucorrhea, pale tongue, fat tongue with teeth marks, and deep and slippery pulse.

6. Liver Qi Stagnation Type

Symptoms: sore throat, hoarseness, weak cough, fatigue, bitter taste in the mouth and dry throat, difficulty swallowing, difficulty eating, dizziness, chest and flank pain, dry tongue with thin yellow coating, and wiry pulse.

7. Kidney deficiency and internal heat type

Symptoms: Hoarseness and loss of voice, sore throat, difficulty eating, pain in the ears, excessive phlegm, fever in the five parts of the body, thick and greasy tongue coating, and deep and rapid pulse.
