Nursing care for laparoscopic radical prostatectomy with indwelling urinary catheter

Many men do not know the treatment methods for prostate cancer, so they dare not have surgery rashly, and they still have some concerns in their hearts. In recent years, many treatment methods for prostate cancer have emerged. Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy is a very commonly used method. It is very important to take good care of the indwelling urinary catheter during laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. Let's take a look at the following introduction.

Nursing measures for indwelling urinary catheters:

1. Purpose:

(1) When rescuing patients in shock or critical condition, correctly record urine volume to observe the condition;

(2) Drain urine before pelvic organ surgery to avoid accidental injury to the bladder during surgery;

(3) After surgery for certain urinary diseases, a urinary catheter is placed to facilitate drainage and flushing, reduce the tension on the surgical incision, and facilitate wound healing;

(4) For patients who are in a coma, paralysis, or have perineal wounds, a urinary catheter should be retained to keep the perineum clean and dry.

2. Nursing measures:

(1) Explain the importance of preventing urinary tract infections;

(2) Keep drainage unobstructed and avoid compression, twisting, or blockage of the drainage tube; prevent retrograde infection;

(3) The urine collection bag should be replaced regularly every day. The drainage tube of the urine collection bag should be located below the pubic symphysis. The urinary catheter should be replaced once a week.

(4) Encourage patients to drink more water, assist them in changing their lying position, perform bladder irrigation if turbid urine, precipitation, or crystals are found, and perform routine urine tests once a week;

(5) Before tube removal, intermittent drainage and clamping should be used to promote the recovery of bladder function.
