Four commonly used diagnostic methods for ovarian cancer

About 90% to 95% of ovarian cancers are primary ovarian cancers, which are a major threat to women's lives. Although the early symptoms of ovarian cancer are not obvious, it can still be detected as early as possible through relevant examination methods.

1. “Triple diagnosis” examination?

That is, a combined examination of the vagina, rectum and abdomen can reveal metastatic nodules hidden in the uterus and rectal fossa. Of course, the final diagnosis still requires pathological examination, that is, removing the ovarian diseased tissue through ultrasound-guided puncture biopsy or laparoscopic surgery.

2. Cytological examination

Cytological examination of ascites by puncturing the abdominal cavity or posterior fornix is helpful for the diagnosis and staging of ovarian cancer. The positive rate of ascites cytological examination is 60% to 70%. The accuracy of ovarian cancer diagnosis by vaginal or abdominal fine needle aspiration of mass cells can reach 90% to 95%. Generally, cystic masses are not suitable for puncture examination.

3. Laparoscopy

Laparoscopic examination can directly observe the pelvic and abdominal organs to determine whether there is a tumor and the specific conditions of the tumor, such as whether there is metastasis and the location of metastasis. Combined with biopsy tissue pathological examination, it has diagnostic value and can be used for clinical staging.

4. Radiological examination

Abdominal plain film can show teeth and bones in mature ovarian teratoma. If isolated calcification foci are found in the pelvis, it indicates that there has been pelvic lymph node tuberculosis, which can be used as a basis for further differentiation between ovarian cancer and tuberculosis. Gastrointestinal tract angiography, gastroscopy, and colonoscopy can understand whether the pelvic tumor is a metastatic cancer of the digestive tract. Lymph node angiography can determine whether the cancer has lymph node metastasis.
