If there is a history of ovarian cancer in the family, it may be inherited

Friends with a family history of ovarian cancer must pay attention to the inheritance of the disease. Women without a family history of ovarian cancer have a 1/70 risk of ovarian cancer. If one of their first-degree relatives has ovarian cancer, the risk increases by 5%, and if two first-degree relatives have the disease, the risk increases to 7%. Tumors in other parts of the body, such as breast cancer, rectal cancer, and endometrial cancer, may also be combined with ovarian cancer. The high-risk groups for ovarian cancer are:

1. Sporadic ovarian cancer refers to the absence of ovarian cancer in the second generation of blood relatives in an ovarian cancer family, including brothers and sisters, children, and grandparents on both sides.

2. Familial ovarian cancer refers to two or more first-generation and second-generation blood relatives in the family who suffer from ovarian cancer.

3. Hereditary ovarian cancer refers to a family of clustered ovarian cancers that manifests as chromosomal dominant inheritance, and may also have other types of cancer. This type is usually called hereditary ovarian cancer syndrome.

The characteristic of hereditary ovarian cancer syndrome is an early onset age. The average age of onset of general ovarian cancer is around 59 years old, while the average age of onset of this hereditary ovarian cancer is around 52 years old.
