Acupuncture treatment for paraplegics with bone cancer

Acupuncture treatment for paraplegics with bone cancer

If a bone tumor occurs in the thoracic spine and other parts of the body, as the tumor develops, the patient is likely to become paralyzed due to limited movement. However, the tumor may not develop as fast as imagined. The threat of the tumor to the body is far less than the inconvenience caused by paraplegia to the patient. If the patient's bone cancer can be cured, acupuncture can be used to treat the patient's paraplegia after recovery.

The use of acupuncture to treat paraplegia has achieved certain results. Statistics show that the effectiveness of acupuncture is about 80%, and the basic cure rate is around 15% to 20%. The clinical methods used to treat paraplegia are as follows. Patients can seek treatment from professional Chinese medicine practitioners based on their own conditions.

Acupuncture point

Main acupoints: Du meridian points and Jiaji points above (1~2 spinous processes) and below (1~2 spinous processes) the injury plane, and diaphragmatic points.

Acupoints: divided into 4 groups. 1. Guanyuan, Zhongji, Tianshu; 2. Zhibian, Yinmen, Weizhong, Kunlun; 3. Biguan, Futu, Zusanli, Chongyang; 4. Huantiao, Yanglingquan, Juegu, Qiuxu.

Governing Law

The main acupoints are selected each time, and 2 to 3 acupoints are selected for the first group of auxiliary acupoints each time, and the remaining acupoints are selected in one group each time.

Governor Vessel Acupuncture Method: Use the index and middle fingers of the left hand to fix the skin between the upper and lower spinous processes of the acupuncture point to be acupunctured. Hold the needle with the right hand, insert the needle tip vertically, and slowly and evenly lift and insert to measure the resistance encountered by the needle tip and feel the sensation under the finger. If the spinous processes are changed due to fracture or dislocation, the Governor Vessel acupoints can be selected according to the principle of selecting Governor Vessel acupoints above and below the injury plane, and other Governor Vessel acupoints can be added. The depth of needle insertion is generally 1.5~2.5 inches. When the hand feels elastic resistance (puncturing the yellow ligament), local swelling, heaviness, and sourness, acupuncture can still be continued. Once there is a sense of emptiness under the finger, and the patient feels that the needle sensation radiates to the lower limbs or perineum on both sides, deep puncture is not allowed, and the needle is slightly lifted outward. Apply the method of flat reinforcement and flat drainage. When matching acupoints, try to make them get qi, and apply the method of flat reinforcement and flat drainage. Leave the needle in for 20~40 minutes. Once a day or every other day, 10 times as a course of treatment, with an interval of 3~5 days between courses.
