Multiple miscarriages increase the risk of cervical cancer

There are many causes of cervical cancer, but the most clear risk factor for cervical cancer is infection with HPV (human papillomavirus). Among the more than 70 types of HPV discovered so far, about 20 are related to female reproductive tract lesions.

HPV is a papillomavirus belonging to the Papovaviridae family and can be transmitted through a variety of routes. Women who have had multiple miscarriages have a much higher risk of being infected with HPV than ordinary people.

Li Li is an employee of a company. She met her boyfriend in her early years. Due to her curiosity about sex and not knowing how to take protective measures, she became pregnant unexpectedly and later had an abortion. Not long after getting married, Li Li became pregnant again, but due to work reasons, she had to terminate the pregnancy. Later, when her life and work were relatively stable, she decided to get pregnant again, but because the previous two abortions had damaged her uterus, she had a spontaneous abortion, and then she had miscarriages in many subsequent pregnancies.

Later, Li Li developed symptoms such as vaginal bleeding and discharge, so she went to the hospital for treatment. After diagnosis, she was confirmed to have cervical cancer. Later, the doctor analyzed that this might be related to Li Li's multiple surgical abortions and uterine cleaning after spontaneous abortions. This process inevitably caused trauma to the cervix, which could lead to the invasion of HPV and increase the probability of cervical cancer.

HPV can be transmitted through sexual intercourse or through medical devices during surgery. In addition, HPV can also be transmitted through contact with infected clothing and utensils. Li Li has had multiple abortions, which increases her chances of being infected with HPV and has a higher risk of cervical cancer than the average person. Therefore, women should understand certain contraceptive measures to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
