How to measure blood pressure more accurately

How to measure blood pressure more accurately

Blood pressure is an important health indicator of the human body. Whether blood pressure is too high or too low, it has a relatively large impact on human health. For this reason, people who are more likely to have blood pressure problems must prepare some blood pressure measuring instruments at home and measure their blood pressure regularly. So, how to measure blood pressure more accurately? This will be introduced below!

1. Correct use of mercury sphygmomanometer

1. Preparation before measurement. Keep the room quiet and the room temperature should be kept at around 20°; relax before measurement, rest for 20 minutes, empty your bladder before measurement, do not drink alcohol, smoke, or drink strong tea or coffee.

2. When measuring, you can sit or lie down with your feet flat on the ground, and your elbows and front hips comfortably placed in a position approximately parallel to the heart.

3. Turn on the sphygmomanometer, place it on a stable surface near a limb, and adjust the mercury column to zero.

4. Take off your sleeves to expose your right upper arm. If the sleeves are thin and wide, you can roll them up to the armpit. Wear an armband and wrap it around the upper elbow joint 2-3 cm, enough to fit a finger. After feeling the brachial artery (inside the upper 1/3 of the upper arm) inside the elbow, place the stethoscope head on the brachial artery and inflate to measure the pressure.

5. Open the air valve to allow the mercury to drop slowly. When you hear the first pulse beat, the reading displayed is the systolic blood pressure value. Continue to deflate and listen until the pulse sound becomes weaker or even disappears at a certain blood pressure scale. The blood pressure displayed at this time is the diastolic pressure. The person being measured should remain calm before measurement. After measuring, you should re-measure after at least 1 to 2 minutes. The average of the two measurements was selected as the measured blood pressure value.

2. Correct use of upper arm electronic blood pressure monitor

1. Relax your body and wear the cuff: a. After relaxing your body for 5 minutes, try to choose a quiet environment to prepare for measurement, roll the cuff around 1-2 cm above the elbow joint, with your palm facing up, and straighten the rubber tube to be parallel to your palm. b. Pull the end of the cuff outwards and secure it to the outside of the cuff with nylon Velcro. Roll and tie it securely so that one finger can fit in it.

2. Press the start button to start automatic measurement: a. Adjust your sitting posture, turn your palms upward, and keep your palms and chest on the same horizontal line. b. Press the start button, the machine will automatically increase the pressure and gradually display the numerical value. c. Keep quiet, relax your body, and do not talk or move your body during the measurement.

3. Read the value and record it: a. After waiting for the measurement to be completed, the LCD screen will display the value of this measurement. Record the value and compare it with the previous measurement.

3. Correct use of wrist electronic blood pressure monitor

1. The wristband should be wrapped around the exposed skin of the left wrist, with the electronic blood pressure monitor located in the center of the wrist.

2. The display screen and palm should face upwards. The wristband should be tied 1-2 cm away from the palm, with appropriate tightness so that it can be rotated.

3. The correct measurement posture is sitting, and the wristband should be at the same level as the heart.

4. The measurement results are automatically displayed, and high pressure, low pressure and heart rate are clear at a glance.
