How to self-check for early skin cancer

Since skin cancer grows on the surface of the body, if it can be discovered by patients in its early stages, it can achieve a high cure rate. Therefore, learning some self-examination methods for early skin cancer is of great significance for disease prevention.

Self-check steps

1. Check both upper limbs: Face the mirror (same below), naked, start with the arms, check the palms, fingers, finger spaces, forearms, and back arms. Then raise both arms, bend the elbows, and carefully check the inside and joints of the forearms.

2. Check the front of the body: face, neck, chest, abdomen, pubic area, and legs.

3. Check the side of the body: raise your hands, check the left half first, then check the right half.

4. Check the head: Ask someone to use a comb to lift the hair so that you can check if there are any suspicious areas on the head skin. If you are a man, you can also touch the hair slowly when the hair is short.

5. Check the back of the body: face the mirror with your back and use a small mirror to look at the back of the neck, back, buttocks and arms. If it is inconvenient, ask one of your spouse or a friend to help check.

The above is a visual check for skin abnormalities in various parts of the body. If you find moles with rough edges, irregular shapes, or larger than 0.25 cm, or long-lasting acne or growths on exposed skin, or slight stimulation can cause skin bleeding and non-invasive scabs, you need to consider whether there are early signs of skin cancer and you should see a doctor as soon as possible for further standardized examinations.
