What is the cure rate of childhood skin cancer?

What is the cure rate of childhood skin cancer? This is a question that many skin cancer patients and their families want to know. Skin cancer not only endangers the patient's physical health, but also puts a lot of psychological pressure on the patient. Some patients can't even bear it, so they want to get an answer as soon as possible.

Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are curable. Treatment usually involves surgery to remove the cancer cells or radiation therapy. Malignant melanoma is also curable through surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Early diagnosis is the key to successful treatment of these three types of skin cancer.

Excessive exposure to the sun's damaging ultraviolet (UV) radiation is the leading cause of skin cancer. UV radiation damages DNA and suppresses the body's immune system, which can accelerate the growth of tumor cells.

Skin cancer can be deadly. According to the American Cancer Society, 9,800 skin cancer deaths will occur in the United States this year. The largest group of deaths is caused by malignant melanoma, accounting for 7,600 cases, while another 2,200 are caused by basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.

In general, people who spend a lot of time in the sun are most likely to get skin cancer. People with light skin and hair are at the highest risk. Skin cancer is more than 10 times more common among white people than among black people. Occupational hazards, such as exposure to coal tar, tar oil (an oily liquid produced when distilling wood tar), arsenic compounds, asphalt, and radiation, also increase the likelihood of skin cancer.
