Can advanced gastric cancer be treated with TCM alone?

My father had surgery for gastric cancer in early September, and 3/5 of his stomach was removed. The postoperative pathology report showed that some cancer cells had metastasized and there were also some cancer cells in the liver. The doctor recommended chemotherapy. My father is worried that chemotherapy will kill cancer cells while affecting normal cells, and he is worried that his body cannot handle it, so he wants to use traditional Chinese medicine for treatment. Can he just use traditional Chinese medicine for treatment?

Chemotherapy refers to the use of chemical drugs for treatment, mainly used for patients whose local tumors have been eliminated after surgery or radiotherapy.

Based on the current medical level, chemotherapy is a relatively effective treatment method. The side effects of chemotherapy mainly include bone marrow suppression, adverse gastrointestinal reactions, and effects on heart, liver and kidney functions.

Whether chemotherapy is needed depends on the progression of gastric cancer and the patient's physical condition. If the patient's condition permits, chemotherapy should be actively carried out, and traditional Chinese medicine can be used as an auxiliary. On the one hand, traditional Chinese medicine can improve the effect of chemotherapy and increase the remission rate of gastric cancer in combination with systemic chemotherapy or interventional chemotherapy. On the other hand, it can reduce the toxicity of chemotherapy and speed up the recovery of the patient's body functions.

Traditional Chinese medicine treatment alone is suitable for patients with advanced gastric cancer who have poor physical fitness and cannot tolerate surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment is even more dominant for elderly patients with very weak physical functions.
