People who often wear synthetic underwear are more likely to develop bladder cancer

A medical study published recently found that people who often wear synthetic fiber underwear are 28 times more likely to develop bladder cancer than the normal group. This may be related to factors such as the poor breathability of synthetic fiber clothing, the susceptibility to static electricity, and the high content of toxic dyes.

According to the Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau, the unqualified rate of chemical fiber underwear is relatively high. Among these unqualified products, the inspection items include: formaldehyde content, decomposable aromatic amines, pH value, odor, color fastness to water, color fastness to friction, color fastness to sweat, color fastness to saliva, labeling, fiber content and physical properties tests of related products.

1. pH value

Human skin is slightly acidic. If the pH value is too acidic or alkaline, it can easily cause skin allergies and make the skin susceptible to infection by bacteria.

2. Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is not only present in large quantities in decoration materials, but also in clothing. Formaldehyde is a chemical product and a dyeing auxiliary that can improve the wrinkle-proof effect of fabrics and garments, maintain the durability of clothing patterns, and make collars and cuffs round and not deformed. Formaldehyde can cause respiratory inflammation and skin inflammation through respiratory and skin contact, and can also irritate the eyes and may even induce cancer.

3. Aromatic amines

Degradable aromatic amine dyes are prohibited from being used in clothing manufacturing, but due to their diverse colors, simple manufacturing and low prices, they are illegally used by most small and medium-sized textile and clothing manufacturers to dye fabrics. This type of toxic dye is absorbed by the skin, and mild symptoms include headaches, nausea, fatigue, insomnia, vomiting, coughing, etc.; severe cases can lead to malignant diseases such as bladder cancer, ureter cancer, and kidney cancer, and the incubation period is as long as 20 years, and the harm to the human body is long-lasting.
