Minimally invasive transurethral surgery for bladder cancer

Minimally invasive surgery for bladder cancer refers to transurethral tumor resection, which can achieve the purpose of controlling the disease and preserving the bladder, mainly including transurethral bladder tumor electroresection and transurethral bladder tumor laser surgery. It is suitable for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer with low malignancy, small and localized tumor, and no invasion of bladder muscle.

1. Transurethral resection of bladder tumors

Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TUR-BT) is a traditional treatment for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. TUR-BT has two purposes: one is to remove all tumors visible to the naked eye, and the other is to remove tissue for pathological grading and staging. During TUR-BT, the tumor should be completely removed until the normal bladder wall muscle layer is exposed. After the tumor is removed, a base tissue biopsy is recommended to facilitate pathological staging and determine the next treatment plan.

2. Transurethral laser bladder tumor surgery

Transurethral laser surgery for bladder tumors is a new method for treating bladder tumors in recent years, mainly using green laser and holmium laser. Laser surgery can vaporize or coagulate to stop bleeding. Clinical summary shows that the tumor recurrence rate of laser surgery is lower than that of transurethral electroresection, and there are no complications such as obturator nerve reflex and bladder perforation caused by transurethral electroresection. It has the advantage of high surgical safety. Tumor biopsy is required before laser surgery for pathological diagnosis.
