Contraindications and precautions for radiotherapy of lung cancer

Radiotherapy for lung cancer is a method of treating malignant tumors using radiation, including X-rays, electron beams, neutron beams, proton beams and other particle beams. There are special contraindications and precautions for lung cancer patients to receive radiotherapy.

Contraindications to radiation therapy for lung cancer:

1. The scope of canceration is extensive, and radiotherapy will cause extensive pulmonary fibrosis and respiratory compensatory dysfunction.

2. Extensive metastasis throughout the body or to the pleura and lungs.

3. Cancerous cavities and giant tumors. Radiotherapy of the latter will promote the formation of cavities.

4. In patients with severe emphysema, radiotherapy will cause respiratory insufficiency.

5. Poor health and cachexia

Radiation therapy for lung cancer:

1. Lung cancer patients need to undergo a routine blood test before radiotherapy. Radiotherapy can only be started if the results are within the normal range. Remember to check your blood routine at least once a week.

2. During radiotherapy and within 1 month after radiotherapy, radiation may occur.

3. Radiotherapy can cause radiation reactions and complications such as fatigue, low fever, decreased appetite, suppression of bone marrow hematopoietic function, pulmonary fibrosis, liquefaction of filaments in the central part of the tumor to form cavities, and local skin damage. These should be noted during treatment.
