Non-surgical treatments for prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is a common malignant tumor that causes great harm to men. Do you know how many other treatments there are for prostate cancer besides surgery? Let's learn about it together!

Chemotherapy: used to treat patients with metastatic prostate cancer that is resistant to endocrine therapy in order to slow tumor growth and prolong the patient's life.

Brachytherapy: Radioactive particles are implanted into the prostate through the perineal skin, killing prostate cancer through close-range radiation. No other treatment assistance is required. Depending on the tumor grade, stage, and PSA value, radiotherapy can be further added after radioactive particle implantation treatment.

Cryotherapy: It is a minimally invasive treatment method. Under ultrasound guidance, a probe is placed into the prostate through the perineal skin, and then liquid nitrogen at minus 96 degrees Celsius is injected into the probe to freeze and kill tumor cells.

Endocrine therapy: It is a palliative treatment method, including medication, injections, medication combined with injections, and bilateral orchiectomy. It removes or prevents testosterone (androgen) from affecting prostate cancer cells, thereby temporarily inhibiting the growth of prostate cancer cells and delaying the progression of the disease.

Radionuclide therapy: It is a palliative treatment for patients with bone pain caused by prostate cancer bone metastasis. Bisphosphonates, given intravenously or orally, can also be used to treat bone pain caused by bone metastasis.
