What tests are needed for prostate cancer

Prostate cancer mostly originates from the peripheral zone of the prostate. It has a relatively hidden onset and grows slowly, so early prostate cancer may not have any warning symptoms. Therefore, to detect prostate cancer early, you need to go to the hospital or physical examination institution for regular check-ups. Do you know which examination items can help screen for prostate cancer?

The only effective and accurate means of diagnosing tumors is pathological diagnosis of puncture biopsy tissue, and prostate cancer is no exception. Before local spread and distant metastasis occur, when there is only local nodule, biopsy can make a diagnosis. Biopsy is the most reliable test for diagnosing prostate cancer and is known as the gold standard for prostate cancer diagnosis.

Rectal examination is also a very important basis for early diagnosis of prostate cancer, which can be manifested as the prostate capsule is not smooth, hard as stone, and adhered to the surrounding tissues. If it involves the seminal vesicle, it is highly suspicious. The lumps are of different sizes and should be differentiated from prostate stones.

In addition, there are some other tests, including prostate-specific acid phosphatase measurement, serum prostate-specific antigen measurement, ECT bone scan, chest X-ray, B-ultrasound examination, pelvic MRI or CT, etc., which are mainly used to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the condition, determine whether the disease is in the early or late stages, and whether there is distant organ or lymph node metastasis.

Tips: Pathological diagnosis

The so-called pathological diagnosis is to completely remove the tumor or cut off a part of the tumor tissue. After many steps of processing, the pathologist observes the morphology and other internal characteristics of the tissue cells under a microscope to analyze and determine the final diagnosis of the tumor.
