Several common ways of metastasis of colon cancer

There are four most common ways for colon cancer to metastasize. Colon cancer cells mainly metastasize in these four ways, which is very harmful to patients. So what are the common ways for colon cancer to metastasize ? Let's talk about the common ways for colon cancer to metastasize.

In general, the common ways of metastasis of colon cancer are:

1. Direct infiltration: Generally, it infiltrates in a circular pattern along the horizontal axis of the intestine and develops into the deep layer of the intestinal wall. It spreads slowly up and down along the longitudinal axis. After the cancer invades the serosa, it often adheres to the surrounding tissues, adjacent organs and peritoneum. This is a common way for colon cancer to metastasize.

2. Peritoneal implantation and metastasis: Cancer cells fall off in the intestinal cavity. The metastasis of colon cancer can be implanted on the mucosa elsewhere. If they fall off in the abdominal cavity, they can be implanted on the peritoneum.

3. Lymphatic metastasis: This type of colon cancer metastasis generally spreads from near to far, but there are also non-sequential cross-metastasis. The probability of lymphatic metastasis increases after the tumor invades the intestinal wall muscle layer. If the subserosal lymphatic vessels are invaded, the chance of lymphatic metastasis is even greater.

4. Hematogenous metastasis: Generally, cancer cells or cancer emboli first reach the liver along the portal vein system, and then reach other tissues and organs such as the lungs, brain, and bones. This is the most common type of metastasis of colon cancer.

The above is an introduction to the common ways of colon cancer metastasis. I hope it will be helpful to you. If colon cancer metastasis occurs, don’t panic and face the treatment with a positive attitude to prevent the condition from getting worse.
