What are the symptoms of early melanoma

Since the incidence and mortality of melanoma are relatively high, early detection of the disease is of great help in treatment, so it is necessary to understand the main symptoms of early melanoma.

Experts say the main symptoms of early melanoma are as follows:

1. Changes of malignant melanoma in the fundus: In the early stage of localized melanoma, local bulges can be seen in the fundus, and flat masses of grayish white, blue-gray, brownish yellow, and dark brown can be seen on the retina. In the early stage of diffuse melanoma, there is no obvious bulge in the fundus.

2. Intraocular pressure: Low intraocular pressure is also one of the main symptoms of early melanoma. As the malignant melanoma grows, the lens and iris are pushed forward by the tumor, blocking the anterior chamber angle, causing aqueous humor circulation disorders, increased intraocular pressure, and secondary glaucoma.

3. Blood vessels: In the enlarged head of malignant melanoma, enlarged blood vessels can sometimes be vaguely seen in the tumor tissue. Spontaneous intrabulbar hemorrhage may sometimes occur.

4. Inflammation: Uveitis and optic neuritis may occur due to the stimulation of melanoma tissue toxins.

5. Extraocular metastasis: As melanoma grows, it can erode weak parts of the sclera, such as metastases along the blood vessels and nerve ducts on the sclera to the outside of the eye and into the orbit, causing protrusion of the eyeball, and then invade adjacent tissues.

6. Systemic metastasis: Melanoma mostly metastasizes through the blood, commonly in the liver, subcutaneous tissue, central nervous system, lungs, stomach, bone marrow, etc.

The above is an introduction to the main symptoms of early melanoma. Understanding the early symptoms can help detect the disease early, which is very helpful for the treatment of patients.
