How to deal with hazardous waste

If we want to live a normal life, we will definitely generate garbage. Some garbage is harmless and can be recycled, but some garbage is harmful to the human body. These garbage cannot be thrown away casually, otherwise it will not only affect people’s health, but also harm the environment. Therefore, we must be very cautious when handling hazardous waste. So, what is the method for dealing with hazardous waste?

1. Landfill method:

Fill the garbage into a prepared pit and then cover and compact it to cause microbial, physical and chemical changes to occur, decomposing organic matter to achieve the goal of reducing volume and rendering it harmless. This method is suitable for garbage made from certain organic matter that has been discarded.

2 Incineration method: It means burning discarded pollutants and converting heat energy into the electricity we need for power generation and heating, etc. However, this method also has its drawbacks, which is that it will produce a large amount of greenhouse gases, causing a greenhouse effect in the atmosphere.

3. Composting method: pile up domestic waste into fertilizer, keep it warm for a period of time, store it, ferment it, etc. With the help of decomposition and fermentation by microorganisms in the waste, biogas can be produced, and it can also be used as organic fertilizer. However, the amount of processed domestic waste compost is too large and the nutrient content is low. Long-term use will cause the soil to become compacted.

4 Resource processing: Carefully classify urban garbage and properly handle garbage at different stages. That is, classify the garbage so that different types of garbage can be fully utilized, thereby achieving real garbage reduction, harmlessness and resource utilization.

5. Special treatment for special garbage; that is, we will recycle the garbage that we cannot handle ourselves, such as waste batteries, into recyclable trash cans to avoid the leakage of harmful substances in the batteries and pollute water sources.

6. Factory waste gas treatment requires that the factory's waste gas treatment standards meet national environmental protection standards. For example, if ammonia leaks, the ammonia needs to be treated as nitrogen fertilizer rather than nitrogen oxides, because nitrogen oxides will still pollute the air.

7. Waste residue treatment means that the waste residue produced by the factory should be treated by physical methods as much as possible. Those that can be buried will never be discarded in the open air, and those that need chemical treatment will never be thrown into rivers to avoid causing secondary pollution.

8 For the treatment of heavy metals, such as copper ion waste liquid, it cannot be discharged into rivers, lakes and reservoirs at will, but must be chemically treated. It is best to convert the heavy metals in the sewage into complex salts to extract the toxic heavy metals contained in it, so as to achieve recycling and reduce pollution to water resources.
