Conventional treatments for uterine tumors

Uterine tumor is one of the killers of women's health and often threatens life. In order to let everyone know about uterine tumor, here we introduce the conventional treatment methods of uterine tumor.

Conventional treatments for uterine cancer successfully cure most women with uterine cancer. Treatment options depend on the stage of the cancer, the patient's age, and general health.

Conventional treatment of uterine tumors

Surgery is the first choice for uterine tumors that have not metastasized or spread. The first choice for early endometrial tumors is a total hysterectomy, which includes removal of the uterus, cervix, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. Extensive surgery is sufficient to cure early uterine tumors and to prevent recurrences as much as possible.

Patients with extensive metastatic uterine tumors are usually treated with hormone therapy to slow the growth of the cancer and chemotherapy or radiation therapy to reduce the size and number of metastases. This treatment is rarely a cure, but it can prolong life and relieve symptoms. If distant tumors can be successfully controlled and the cancer is confined to the genitourinary organs, surgery can be performed.

Patients who are in remission need to be checked every few months for several years. If the cancer recurs, it usually occurs within 3 years. If the recurrence is treated early, it can be cured with aggressive radiation therapy or further surgery.

To help ease the stress of having a uterine tumor, patients should consider joining a support group. Counseling is especially helpful for premenopausal women who are troubled by the knowledge that they will no longer be able to have children after a hysterectomy.
