A simple method for early detection of laryngeal tumors: listening to the sound and identifying blood

In recent years, due to changes in people's diet and living habits, the incidence of malignant tumors has continued to rise, seriously threatening people's health and even endangering their lives. Let our experts briefly introduce you to the early stages of laryngeal tumors, hoping to help you!

Therefore, preventive measures should be taken for malignant tumors, including early detection, early prevention, early diagnosis and early treatment.

The incidence of laryngeal cancer is 10 times higher in men than in women. One of the reasons is that more men smoke than women. The more they smoke and the longer they smoke, the greater the possibility of laryngeal cancer. The earlier laryngeal cancer is discovered, the more normal laryngeal tissue can be preserved during surgery, and the effect on pronunciation, breathing and swallowing functions after surgery will be relatively small. In fact, the easiest way to detect laryngeal tumors in the early stage is to "listen to the sound and identify blood", that is, hoarseness and coughing up blood are typical symptoms of the disease.

The surface of a normal person's vocal cord is smooth, and the sound is clear and bright. If the vocal cord epithelial tissue becomes cancerous, it will directly affect the frequency of vocal cord vibration and the degree of closure, and hoarseness is likely to occur. People over 40 years old who have hoarseness that does not heal for two weeks must go to the hospital for examinations such as laryngoscopy, fiberoptic laryngoscopy, and stroboscopic laryngoscopy to determine whether there is a tumor in the larynx and whether the movement and closure of the vocal cords are normal. However, not all laryngeal cancer patients will show hoarseness. Hoarseness will only occur when cancer cells invade the vocal cords, and the tumor is no longer in the early stage.

Another important sign of laryngeal cancer is blood in the sputum. Normal tissue cells rely on blood for nutrients, while cells in malignant tumor tissue grow in pairs, one becomes two, two becomes four... Their growth rate exceeds the growth rate of capillary epithelial cells in the tumor. Therefore, the surface of the tumor lacks blood supply and ulcers and necrosis occur. Under the impact of coughing airflow and sputum, the necrotic tissue will be mixed with blood. If there is blood in the sputum, it means that cancer cells have infiltrated deep into the laryngeal tissue, or the tumor has developed to the late stage.

In addition, laryngeal diseases such as vocal cord leukoplakia, vocal cord keratosis, chronic atypical hyperplastic laryngitis, and laryngeal papilloma must be treated in a regular hospital to rule out laryngeal cancer. Laryngeal microsurgery and minimally invasive treatment techniques can completely remove the lesions while preserving the pronunciation, breathing, and swallowing functions of the larynx to the maximum extent.
