How to treat a ganglion cyst in the wrist?

What are the treatments for wrist ganglion cysts? Of course, patients need to pay special attention to it. Current treatments include non-surgical and surgical treatments. After surgical treatment, care should be taken to avoid strenuous joint activity to prevent recurrence.

1. Non-surgical treatment

Although the recurrence rate of conservative treatment of ganglion cysts is high, this method is the least invasive and easily accepted by patients. It can be used as the first choice of trial treatment in clinical practice. Ganglion cysts can be ruptured by squeezing and gradually absorbed on their own, but they may recur after treatment. Those that are connected to the joint cavity are not easy to rupture. The cyst fluid can be extracted by puncture, and then pressure and massage can be applied, or the cyst fluid can be extracted and then injected with adrenal cortical hormone or hyaluronidase, and local pressure bandage can be applied for 2 days, which has a certain therapeutic effect.

2. Surgery

When other treatment methods are ineffective, ganglion cysts can be surgically removed. After surgery, strenuous activity of the affected joint should be avoided to prevent recurrence.

3. Prevention

a. Holding the mouse for too long or with incorrect posture can easily lead to damage to the synovial cavity of the hand joint, thus causing a ganglion cyst. Therefore, office workers who need to use computers and mice for a long time should take a 5 to 10 minute break every hour and do stretching exercises or local massage.

bYou can do some gentle hand exercises to relieve pain. Wrist rotation is one of the simple exercises. Twist your wrists for about 2 minutes. It exercises all wrist muscles, restores blood circulation, and eliminates the bent posture of the wrist.

c. After exertion, rinse the affected area with hot water to promote smooth local blood flow. Local massage can also help promote blood circulation.
