We will introduce the symptoms of bone tumors to you in detail

Bone tumor is a common orthopedic disease with a very high incidence rate, which seriously affects the patient's health. In order to help you better understand bone tumor disease, the following is a detailed introduction to the symptoms of bone tumor.

Bone tumors can be classified as either benign or malignant. Benign bone tumors are relatively common, while malignant bone tumors are less common. Bone tumors can also be classified as primary, where the benign or malignant bone tumor originates in the bone itself, or metastatic, where the tumor originates somewhere else in the body (such as in the breast or prostate) and then spreads to the bone. Most malignant bone tumors in children are primary, while most malignant bone tumors in adults are metastatic.

Bone pain is a common symptom of bone tumors. Lumps may also be found. Some malignant bone tumors can cause osteolytic destruction, making the bones fragile and causing fractures (pathological fractures) with very little or no external force.

If there is persistent joint or limb pain, an X-ray examination is required. However, X-ray examination can only show abnormalities in bone shape and cannot determine whether it is benign or malignant. CT and MRI examinations can understand the exact location and size of the tumor, but often cannot provide a specific diagnosis.

Usually, a biopsy (examination under a microscope) of the tumor is necessary to confirm the diagnosis. The biopsy sample can be obtained by inserting a needle into the tumor (needle biopsy) or by surgery (open biopsy) to obtain a sufficient sample. Bone tumors should be treated promptly, including a combination of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy, which is especially important for malignant tumors.
