What factors are related to nasopharyngeal carcinoma?

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a common malignant tumor in my country, with a high mortality rate among cancers. The incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in my country ranks first in the world. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma often occurs in the posterior wall of the nasopharynx and the pharyngeal recess. It is difficult to detect because of its deep and hidden location. In the early stage, it lacks characteristics and is covered by general symptoms and thus ignored or misdiagnosed. Through research, experts have found that the cause of nasopharyngeal carcinoma may be related to factors such as environment, diet, genetics and Epstein-Barr virus infection.

1. Environment and diet

Environmental factors are one of the causes of nasopharyngeal cancer. Through clinical research, experts have found that the content of trace element nickel in rice and water in areas with high incidence of nasopharyngeal cancer is higher than that in areas with low incidence. The nickel content is also high in the hair of nasopharyngeal cancer patients. Nickel may be a cancer-promoting factor. Dinitrosopyrazine is related to the occurrence of nasopharyngeal cancer. Eating salted fish and pickled foods is a high-risk factor for nasopharyngeal cancer in southern China, and is related to the age, duration, frequency and cooking method of eating salted fish. This is related to the high concentration of nitrosamine compounds in salted fish and pickled products;

2. Genetic factors

There is a racial and familial clustering of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma may be a hereditary disease. Recently, the correlation between certain genetic factors that determine HLA and nasopharyngeal carcinoma has been discovered. There are reports that chromosomal aberrations in peripheral blood lymphocytes in families with a high incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are related to a certain degree of genetic susceptibility to nasopharyngeal carcinoma;

3. Epstein-Barr virus infection

EB virus-infected cells can produce a variety of EB virus-specific antigens, including early antigens, capsid antigens, membrane antigens, and nuclear antigens. After the human body is infected with EB virus, it will produce various corresponding antibodies. These antibodies can be used as serological diagnostic markers for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, but the positive rate of EA-IgA antibodies in normal people is relatively high, and it is not as specific as VCA-IgA in diagnosing nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Further studies have shown that the detection of EA-IgA antibodies in serum is more specific than VCA-IgA antibodies, but not as sensitive as VCA-IgA. People who are positive for VCA-IgA antibodies are at high risk of developing nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

The above are the causes of nasopharyngeal cancer introduced by experts. Expert Tips: If you have symptoms of disease, you can choose the appropriate treatment according to your symptoms, but do not delay diagnosis, and do not let your life be ruined by hesitation.
