What medicine should I take for gallbladder crystals

Gallbladder crystallization is a relatively common symptom. It is the initial manifestation of cholesterol stones. If you do not pay attention to improvement and control, it will lead to gallbladder stones. Therefore, you must control it through diet and medication. Eat less greasy food, animal liver, and refrain from smoking and drinking. For medication, choose gallbladder protecting drugs according to the doctor's advice, and maintain an optimistic attitude.

1. What is cholecystitis?

Cholesterolosis of the gallbladder is a special type of chronic cholecystitis. Because a large number of cholesterol ester particles are deposited in the basement membrane of the gallbladder mucosal epithelial cells, many small yellow nodules are formed. This disease is more common in middle-aged people, with no significant difference between the sexes. Clinically, it is characterized by mild upper abdominal discomfort and pain. Most people do not have any clinical symptoms.

2. Is there any relationship between cholecystitis and gallstone formation?

Due to abnormal cholesterol metabolism, it aggregates and deposits on the gallbladder mucosa, with a diameter of mostly less than 0.5 cm. Once cholesterol is deposited in the gallbladder mucosa, it is often accompanied by chronic inflammation, that is, chronic cholecystitis. There was no obvious abnormality in the appearance of the gallbladder, the gallbladder wall was slightly thick, and the mucosa was obviously congested and hypertrophic. Generally divided into two types:

1. Diffuse deposition of cholesterol particles in the gallbladder, also known as cholesterol crystals in the gallbladder wall;

2. Cholesterol deposits in the gallbladder appear as papillary protrusions

This situation is often difficult to distinguish from gallbladder polyps. However, the papillary protrusions of gallbladder cholesterol deposition are often easy to fall off. That is to say, during the follow-up process, if the original protruding part falls off and disappears, it may be the protrusion caused by cholesterol deposition.

Among patients with cholecystitis, approximately 14% to 50% will have gallbladder cholesterol stones or develop into gallbladder stones. In some cases, the originally deposited cholesterol particles will fall off in the gallbladder, aggregate and form gallstones.

Gallbladder crystals are the initial manifestation of cholesterol stones, and if they continue to develop they will lead to gallbladder stones.

The main components of human bile are cholesterol, bile acid and phospholipids. Under normal circumstances, there is an appropriate ratio between the three. Therefore, fat-soluble cholesterol can be completely dissolved in bile with the help of bile acid and phospholipids. Once the ratio of the three is out of balance for some reason, such as too high cholesterol concentration or a relative decrease in bile acid and phospholipids, part of the cholesterol in the bile cannot be dissolved in the bile, and cholesterol crystals will precipitate and deposit on the gallbladder wall. This is the gallbladder crystals commonly found. Once gallbladder crystals are formed, they are often difficult to eliminate and generally grow larger or more numerous. After a certain period of time, the precipitated cholesterol crystals aggregate into clusters, which are commonly referred to as gallstones.
