Does elbow fracture require surgery?

Does elbow fracture require surgery?

The elbow joint is a very important joint in our body. Whether our upper limbs can move normally depends entirely on healthy elbow joints. However, under the influence of many factors, our elbow joints may fracture, which limits the function of the elbow joint. When fractures occur, the treatment method is what everyone is most concerned about. So, does an elbow fracture require surgery? Let’s take a closer look below.

Generally speaking, fractures involving the articular surface require anatomical reduction, so surgical treatment is usually required to restore joint function.

What to eat to heal a broken bone

1. Early stage of fracture (1-2 weeks)

Reducing swelling and dispersing blood stasis are the primary tasks in fracture healing. In principle, the diet should be light, and you should eat more vegetables, eggs, soy products, fruits, fish soup, lean meat and other foods. Avoid spicy, dry, hot and greasy foods. Avoid eating fatty and nourishing foods too early, such as bone soup, fat chicken, stewed fish, etc. This will cause blood stasis, which is difficult to dissipate and delays recovery.

2. Mid-term fracture (2-4 weeks)

Most of the swelling and bruises are absorbed, and the treatment at this stage is mainly focused on relieving pain, removing blood stasis, and setting bones and tendons. At this time, the diet can be appropriately supplemented with high nutrition to meet the needs of callus growth. You can eat recipes with high nutritional value, such as bone soup, Panax notoginseng chicken, animal liver, etc., to replenish more vitamins, calcium and protein.

3. Late stage of fracture (more than 5 weeks)

Five weeks after the injury, the swelling at the fracture site has been basically absorbed and bone callus has begun to grow. This is the late stage of the fracture. The purpose of this stage is to promote the formation of callus and relax muscles and tendons, so that the adjacent joints of the fracture can move freely and flexibly and restore their previous functions. Dietary taboos can be lifted, and the recipe can be supplemented with old hen soup, pork bone soup, mutton bone soup, deer tendon soup, stewed water fish, etc. Those who can drink can choose from Eucommia ulmoides and Drynaria wine, Millettia reticulata wine, tiger bone and papaya wine, etc.
