How to tell if eyelashes are growing backwards

How to tell if eyelashes are growing backwards

In our lives, many people have eyelashes that grow backwards. This kind of eyelashes is basically a kind of disease, and it particularly affects the patient's appearance. When many people see that their eyelashes are like this, they will choose to correct them. And some people will try to make their eyelashes look more curled when applying mascara. So how do you tell whether your eyelashes are growing backwards?

When inverted eyelashes prick the cornea and conjunctiva, the eyeball will feel stinging, tearing, and a foreign body sensation. In severe cases, inverted eyelashes act like "brushes" that constantly rub the transparent and delicate cornea with the blinking of the eyes. Over time, the shallow layer of the cornea gradually becomes cloudy, which affects vision.

Because infants and young children have thin and soft eyelashes, they are not easy to damage the cornea. If the conjunctiva is not congested and the cornea is normal, there is no need to rush for surgery. If the child's conjunctiva is found to be congested or tearing, it should be checked in time. If the cornea is found to be damaged by trichiasis, surgery should be performed in time.

Sometimes as the child grows, the root of the nose develops fully and can return to normal on its own. For children with congenital double eyelashes, if there are only a few inverted eyelashes, the hair follicles can be electrolyzed. If there are more rows of double eyelashes, surgery is required to remove the extra row of eyelashes. Pull down the lower eyelid frequently to reduce the irritation of the cornea caused by inverted eyelashes.

There are various possible treatments for trichiasis, including the following:

1. Plucking eyelashes This is a simple and inexpensive method. If eyelash surgery cannot be performed for some reason, this is an effective treatment measure.

2. Electrolysis of hair follicles This is a relatively simple method but requires appropriate equipment. A 2-year follow-up report pointed out that for mild eyelashes, the success rate is about 25%.

3. Cryopreservation of eyelashes is the same as electrolysis of hair follicles. It also requires appropriate equipment and the learning of the application of freezing techniques to cause depigmentation of the eyelid skin. Its success rate is similar to that of electrolysis of hair follicles.

4. Eyelash surgery Surgical correction of eyelashes is the "last chance" to prevent trachoma blindness and is the most urgent action to be taken.

The above is what the experts introduced. In addition to the above treatments, doctors must have some other treatments. When the lower eyelashes grow inward in life, we must deal with this situation in time to better protect our eyes. Finally, I wish everyone can have a pair of bright eyes!
